Taking pictures is easy; making money from your photographs takes some thought.

So how do you go about it?  Well you have to look at what you want from your photography. Do you want to sell photographs to make money?  

If so you have to start thinking about your image as a product.  Do you want to have your photographs in a gallery, museum, photographic competition, or on a website sold as stock photography?  If so you have to start thinking about your image as an art marketable product.  

So how do you make money from your photographs?  The best place to start is to understand who your potential purchasers.

If you have a camera and the ability to take a good picture, you have the potential to make money from photography. We find the most successful people are ones that have a passion for photography, usually have it as their hobby, and are looking for ways to supplement their income as a side gig or replace their income with it.

You can start a photography business, or sell your photographs online through sites like iStock, Fotolia and Shutterstock.

Whether or not you’re passionate about your career, it’s important to make money from that passion. When you’re passionate about your work, it will be difficult to stay away from it.
